Edward Louis JONES Born January 15, 1922 in Georgetown, TX; died May 8, 2010 at his home in Seattle. Survived by Lynne, his loving wife of 46 years; his children, Cynthia Jones, Frances Scott (Dennis), Edward Lawrence Jones (Maxine), Christopher Louis Jones (Susie), and Teresa Maxie; his 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dr. Jones came to Seattle after his service in the Army in WWII as a second lieutenant and pilot. After his military career his accomplishments were many including producing / directing plays in Hollywood, Seattle, and Spokane; working for the Attorney General of WA; civil engineering; and social work. Simultaneously he received three undergraduate degrees from the University of Washington in Far Eastern (Russian and Chinese) Studies, speech and philosophy. He also received a bachelor degree in law and a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University. He was the assistant Dean of Arts and Sciences at UW in 1968. In addition to being fluent in five languages, he authored and published the following 12 books; 'Forty Acres and a Mule'; 'Profiles in African Heritage'; 'Black Zeus'; 'Black Zeus II'; 'African Mythology and History'; 'Tutankhamon'; 'Black Orator's Workbook'; 'The Black Diaspora: Colonization of Colored People'; 'From Rulers of the World to Slavery'; 'President Zachary Taylor and Senator Hannibal Hamlin: Union or Death'; 'Why Colored Americans Need an Abraham Lincoln in 1992'; 'Mister Moon Man Goes to Japan, a Children's Story'.He was recognized for his achievements locally and nationally and often asked to speak at universities all over the U.S. as well as the United Nations. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and mentor. Funeral Mass was celebrated May 13th, at Blessed Sacrament Church.
